DON'T GET STUCK WITHOUT IT
If you follow the automotive buzz, you will know that every year the SEMA Show in Las Vegas showcases over-the-top builds by designers and manufacturers from all over the world. It also is a place for the aftermarket to show off their new products. One such product is Bubba Rope. This is an amzing product that has only been around for a few years. It started with some good-ol' boys from Florida who loved playing in the mud and marshes, and of course got stuck in their trucks. They wanted a faster and safer way to recover vehicles. So they looked to our military who has plenty of experience with towing and recovering vehicles from difficult and dangerous situations. From that, they advanced on the military design by taking double braided nylon rope and dipping it in liquid vinyl. This gives the Bubba Rope its water, abrasio, and UV resistant properties.
Bubba Rope has a number of different products from heavy duty recovery rope to replacement winch rope. This means you can replace your frayed and stiff winch cable with a durable nylon rope, which is much safer and easier to use. You can get it for 8,000 - 10,000 lb. winches in 1/4" to 3/8" diameter with length from 40 to 50 feet in the 1/4" diameter, and 80 to 100 feet in the 3/8" diameter. Now you might be wondering how a rop can be strong enough. Their 3/8" wich rope is rated for 17,200 lbs. breaking strength. It also presents some advantages of being much lighter and easier to handle, along with the ability to float on water. The guys at Bubba Rope have added some pretty cool features to the rope. They added a colred band every 10 feet, so you can quickly see how much rope you have out, and they give a 20 foot section of red rope to warn you that you're getting to the end of your rope. They use a victory thimble on the nd of the winch rope, which does not have any metal parts. This eliminates the standard hook, but do not fear because they provide you a Gator Jaw synthetic shackle for connection to your tow point. This Gator Jaw is rated from 11,000 lbs. to 125,500 lbs. breaking strength.
Do you need just a standard tow rope? Bubba Rope has a large seletion of recovery ropes also. These recovery ropes offer superior performance, strength and durability. They utilize Power Gain Technology in their ropes which allow uniform stretch. This allows more power to be transferred to get you truck unstuck, and is easier on the vehicles and the drivers.
How do you know what size of rope you need? Bubba Rope reports that there is no official working load limit on their Power Stretch recovery ropes. However, they do recommend that the best method of picking the right rope is to multiply the weight of the stuck vehicle by 3.5 or 4 times, and then select the rop that has a breaking strength equal to or higher than this number. So for example, if you are going to recovering a 6,000 lb. half-ton truck, then you would need a Bubba Rope with a breaking strength of 28,600 lbs.
So if you don't want to get stuck, then this is one rope that you will want to have in your truck.
